In-situ work

In-situ treatment of 17th Century wallhangings

Penshurst Place

The applied silk fabrics were secured where damaged by working laid couching to hold threads to the underlying linen lining. Each section was subsequently protected with an applied covering of dyed conservation net stitched in place. The project was worked over several years, treating 2 panels at each session.
